The friendly town of Levico Terme in Valsugana is one of the most important spas in Trentino. A popular holiday destination during the era of Princess Sissi and the Habsburgs, today Levico Terme stills preserve its identity steeped in history, and is a perfect vacation spot for young people, seniors and families.
The discovery of arsenical ferruginous mineral waters in the area dates back to the 1600s. Its properties were recognized as therapeutic, and in 1896, construction of the railway line that connected Levico Terme and Valsugana with the heart of Central Europe was begun. Shortly after, the construction of the spa, the Art Nouveau Grand Hotel and the Habsburg park around it, made Levico Terme into a health resort that was popular with the higher bourgeoisie of the period. Today Levico Terme is a rare Italian example of a nineteenth-century ville d’eau termale, and its spa a health and research institute recognized by the National Health Service for the treatment of various diseases, including respiratory problems and stress disorders.
Levico Terme in Valsugana Trentino is the ideal destination for those in search of well-being, those who want to take a “health” bath, breathing in the clean air and enjoying the peace of the place, with its wealth of nature and history to discover. The special hillside location of our town, between the two lakes of Levico and of Caldonazzo and the Lagorai chain, makes its climate mild and the air highly oxygenated throughout the year, very suitable for the elderly and children. The lake of Levico Terme is also popular in summer for cooling off, keeping fit with different sports or just relaxing on its well-equipped shores.
